Festival History
The Tango Alchemie festival was born, as are all things, from a spark of desire ignited by curiosity of the unknown, in this case the pursuit of the essence, the mystery and the apparent necessity of Tango.
The desire to have a festival in Prague has been held by many for many years. Jenne, long wished to create a gathering of like-minded tangueros to explore and celebrate the finer and subtler qualities of the art. Adi Morawitz shared this vision in the very earliest days of the local tango scene, in which Marek Stefan and Martin Fischer had just begun to gather the faithful in Prague.
The desire for a larger festival in Prague therefore was held by many, and the angelic impulse and partnership with premier dancer and organizer Radka Sulcova mixed with Pavel Broum's unique dearness and capabilities to manifest the first Tango Alchemie festival in 2007.
The first fest was launched with the support of Mr Enzo Balestrazzi, patron of the tango arts, and made possible by precious friends who toiled much with us to make the first festival success. Notable among them are: Marek and Martin who with Radka illuminate all things tango in Prague thru caminito.cz; Nikola Bukajova, sage and co-conjurer of the festival name and essence; Tereza Novakova, her exquisite presence and help at every turn; Stepanka Sunkova event manager and life-saver extraordinaire; Jan Chrostek saviour of the first ever TA event and tried and true supporter; Jana & Achim Jaehnke the must-know refining element of all things elegant in Prague tango; the incomparable David Kralik with the ever glowing and knowing Kamilka; accomplished tanguera and tireless festival accountant Petra Kubickova; Pepa the X tango guru, DJ Rick who is not to be missed, and many many others who helped not only to make the Tango Alchemie festival a reality, but who regularly grace the pistas of Prague with their luminosity- making this a truly wonderful place for tango.
Most importantly, THANKS to the incredible seekers and tangosouls that bravely came to Prague to join us for the first TA fest, and to those of you who keep coming- it is you who truly make the magic.
